Fatima Mata National College was established primarily to serve the economically backward minority community of Latin Catholics in the Diocese of Quilon. Yet the institution also keeps in mind its social responsibility, especially to other less fortunate brethren in society. Fatima College:

Derives inspiration from the supreme example and teaching of Jesus Christ and accepts Mary, His Mother (in her apparition at Fatima, Portugal as Our Lady of Fatima) as its Heavenly Patroness.

Affirms the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of mankind, and considers the management, staff and students – past and present – members of one large extended family – the Fatima family.

Believes that every institution of higher learning should act as a catalyst of enlightenment and change, and become an instrument of social justice, by providing educational opportunities to all, especially to the less fortunate brethren.
