             The College honours the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary seen in apparition at Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The founder, Bishop Jerome Fernandez, an ardent devotee of the Heavenly Mother, wished that every member of the Fatima community enjoy her maternal protection and care. His patriotic spirit also envisioned every Fatimite imbued with a genuine sense of service and sacrifice for the nation. Hence the name Fatima Mata National College.
