The Department offers three-year graduate and four-semester post-graduate courses in Physics and is equipped with a fully functional laboratory. A career-oriented useful add-on course offered to the students is Maintenance of Electrical and Electronic Equipments.
The Center for Advanced Research in Physical Sciences (CARPS) of the Dept of Physics takes up collaborative studies and research projects with institutes of international reputation; an ongoing project is on "The Extensive Inhalation and External Gamma Radiation Dosimetric Studies for assessing the effects of low and chronic radiation exposures on the health of human populations in the Monozite bearing areas of Kollam and Alleppey districts". The project is being executed in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Center.
