The Department of English has been instrumental in shaping many a career in all works of life. More than mere academic instruction aimed at good result, the Department endeavors to promote better human relation among the students and the staff. Post graduation was introduced in 1965 and the department has produced commendable results in the university exams over the years. The elevation of the Department to the status of an approved research center, in 2005, is yet another proof of progressive growth.

The Department of English offers B.A, M.A and a faculty for research leading to Ph.D Coaching is also offered in developing communicative skills and Research Methodology. Infrastructural resources include a Language Laboratory, an Audio-visual room and a Seminar room for PG students.
